At the end of 2022, I selected We Three for part of my Artists to Watch series for 2023 and beyond (view the announcement).
We Three had quite the year. I'd say 2023 was transformative.

Joshua, Bethany, and Manny are known for the honesty and heart they share in their art. This year, they put their hearts out there in new ways. Some may look at what they've done as risky, but what We Three has done and continues to do is stay authentic.
They started by reflecting on 2022 and the memories they made. From there, they released In Therapy just before setting off with their instruments and crew to ride one last Happy wave with 8 shows across the US.
While they were enjoying this time, they were also preparing fans for the new era by dropping Easter eggs along the way.
When it was time to return home, they made sure to let fans know that they'd “SEE YOU IN THE NEXT ONE” (view post) — a memorable lyric for the new era… from a song which I describe as ethereal (view my write-up on Love Me).
This era was different. In some ways, the intensity of the stories they share on Love Me are like that of their song Sara. Each involves sensitive subjects and have connected the band with listeners on a different level. Their fanbase has grown, while some of it has changed.
When thinking about their album Love Me, I'm reminded of a quote by Rick Rubin, record producer:
“The best art polarizes the audience.”
While subject to opinion, it’s a perspective to consider.
The excitement and suspense were building just as the band shared a red heart.

And with that, a new chapter began.
